Mila is 10 months old!!
I can hardly believe that she will be 1 in less than 2 months!
It is so fun to watch her personality develop more and more. She has such a wicked sense of humor and loves to laugh!
She still isn't crawling, but she does this weird thing where she bends her legs funny and scoots backwards on her butt to get where ever she needs to be.
Mila loves:
anything sparkly, holding onto her mama's jewelry, petting and looking at animals, getting kisses on her neck, being tickled, going on her swing, EATING ANYTHING (but especially peas), music, dancing, talking, shouting, smashing her peas, giving food to the dogs, putting anything and everything into her mouth, and banging things against other things.
Mila doesn't like:
tummy time, taking naps, when the dogs bark too much, when we take sparkly things away from her, when we take things out of her mouth, when we don't let her give her food to the dogs, and chicken.
Austin has been home with her while I have been teaching summer session and they have developed such a sweet routine: she has milk when she wakes up, then Austin takes her upstairs, changes her diaper, they have some toast, then they go outside and swing while he waters the garden, then inside playing time until I come home.
He has to start his summer classes tomorrow and is bummed to have to stop their mornings together. I hope I can fill his shoes.
We've been having PERFECT weather here (mid 70s), so Mila and I sat on the deck and ate snacks while Austin planted our new trees (which we bought because the neighbors like to sit on their back porch and stare at us. It is unbelievably creepy)
Sharing her cookie with Nando
No, you can't have it, Nando!
(Look at that devilish grin on her face)
Watching her dada work
Reading her book in the sunshine
And in other news...
This is Lulu (trying to steal Mila's cookie)
We adopted her last week.
Basically, we were not in the market for a new dog... but watching a show about rescue animals had me looking at local shelters, purely out of curiosity.
Long story short, we ended up hearing about this woman who was in a crap situation and needed to get rid of her dogs. She works 12 hour shifts and the dogs are crated the entire day, which is just horrible.
We saw Lulu and immediately thought she looked like a black version of Fernando.
And who can resist Fernando???
She is not the best trained dog in the world: very pushy with food, not good on a leash, and doesn't seem to understand personal space.
BUT, she is so sweet and gentle with Mila and lets her pull on her collar and her face as much as she wants (which is a lot).
