back in time with Nana

My mom bought Mila an outfit for Christmas
and it resembled something an old-timey grannie might wear to bed.

The hat really made the look.

Just like her mama, Mila's face tells us all we need to know about her opinion.

Enjoy!

We tried the hat again on its own...

Besties

This past month, we got to go to my home town of San Diego and Mila got to meet my friends and family.
Additionally, she got to meet her bestest friend in the whole world: Cece!

Here are the two in their first ever photo session.
I decided to keep the entire sequence because it is just too cute and the action is adorable.

"Stay back, Mila, I'll check out this big black flashing box and see if it is safe"

 Speaking of besties...

It was so amazing to get to spend time with Angie and Cece (and Jerry too, of course)!
We have known each other since we were 12 and now we are hanging out with our own little girls.
Angie was so wonderful throughout the pregnancy. She was 3 months ahead of me and offered advice, guidance, and hilarious stories that I cherished and really needed.

Having her meet Mila and having our girls meet was really incredible!

More Mila Selfies

4 Months (+ 2 weeks)

Yes, I know it has been forever and I am the worst updater-of-blogs ever... I know, I know.

Turns out, being a parent is very time consuming.
On top of that, I was finishing my exams (which I PASSED) and Austin has been studying for finals.
We also had Thanksgiving, my 30th birthday, a visit from Meema and Bubba, end-of-semester parties, grading... it has been insanely busy

ANYWAY...
Mila is now four months old!!!
(the above photo was taken on her actual four month birthday when we were abut to go out for breakfast)

She is so much fun!
She has a full head of strawberry blonde hair and big blue eyes.
She smiles ALL THE TIME... anyone who looks her in the eyes is bound to get a big smile.
We refer to her as quite the charmer.
She talks and yells all day (and night) and is quite the character.

Her favorite game is to squeal and then for me to mimic the sounds back to her.
 Endlessly entertaining to a baby.

She started laughing out loud on Nov. 17th.
It is this amazing belly laugh.
She thinks Austin is hilarious. I am okay.
He can basically do whatever and she laughs and laughs. He held a sandwich near her and she was in hysterics.

Mila Likes:
any toy with that crinkly texture/sound, yogurt lids, sitting in her swing, sitting in her high chair like a big girl, trying to eat our food when we are eating, mardi gras beads, Sophie the Giraffe (a teether), kicking, shouting, having her belly tickled, squealing with her mama, laughing with her daddy, watching Fernando play, taking baths,  MUSIC and DANCING, and football.

Mila Doesn't Like:
naps.
...when Fernando barks while she is trying to eat, us breaking her bedtime routine, getting out of the bath, being cold, waking up and not being able to see or hear her mama and daddy.

We will be going to San Diego next week and I am so excited for Mila to be around my family and friends! My mom hasn't seen her since she was three weeks old (aside from one random Skype and dozens of pictures), and my dad and brother, Adam, have yet to meet her!
She is also going to meet her future BFF, Cece.
I can't wait for all of my friends to get to meet her and Austin (since the last time we were both in town I was so morning sick that we couldn't really see anyone or do anything).
It should be an amazing time... though I am really not looking forward to the plane ride.

Mila was sitting up on the couch by herself.

It's snowing outside and Mila took her very first selfie... apparently, she wants the world to know how tough she is.
