Mila Says...

Mila has officially moved into short sentences.

Here are some of her favorites:

No no no, daddy! (or mama, or Grace)
Up, mama.
More _____ (whatever she wants)
Go Out?

And everything else involves signing for at least one word so I am not sure it counts yet.

This includes the brilliant:
More baby signing time, please (the first word spoken but everything else signed)

In other news, we are going to our first open house for a potential nursery school for next year.
I can't believe my baby girl is getting so big!

A Spring Trip to San Diego and a 20 Month Update

We took a mini trip to San Diego over spring break because tickets are usually so expensive but there was a random deal (which I had to take advantage of).

The trip started out a bit rough:
our first flight was delayed over and over again (we were stuck in Pullman's airport for a painful amount of time, and if you have ever been there, it is literally a small room with no bathroom, not enough chairs, no water, no food, and nothing to do). Mila took a massive dump in the middle of the room to express her frustration.
We finally got on the plane and then sat on the runway for over an hour.
By the time we got to Seattle, our second flight had left hours before.
They gave us vouchers for a hotel and food, which seemed nice BUT the food vouchers were totally useless in terms of timing.
We had to wait for an hour in the rain for a shuttle, and then the shuttle had no room for luggage or people.
By the time we FINALLY got to the hotel (and had to set up her crib) and finally got Mila to sleep, it was about 1:30 am.
Even better, our flight was at 6:30 am and our shuttle back to the airport was at 4:40. So... we got about 3 hours of sleep and it was awful.

We got to San Diego around 9:30am, ate some Lolita's (of course) and then fell asleep for a few hours.
It was painfully hot and dry but we had a great time visiting friends/family/delicious restaurants/ and the zoo!

Here is Mila asking the mini horse to come out and play.

She LOVED the goat and pet it so gently. She just kept saying "Hi" and "Baa" over and over.

We met up with Angie and Cece, but I somehow managed to completely space on getting pics of the girls together.

Truthfully, Mila was more interested in the plants than the animals, but she definitely had a magic zoo moment with the bonobo.
Here, she is confused about why his back is turned.
And then he saw her... (she is waving and saying "Hi")

They were staring deep into each other's eyes, making faces, laughing, and becoming best friends.
 She is laughing hysterically.
The hippo was less interested in making friends.
After a few hours, she was about done.

We decided to skip the Wild Animal Park because of Mila's interest in plants over animals, and spent part of the day at a park where I used to play when I was little.
 She loved their toddler area!
We met up with my friend, Rachel, whom I have not seen for years, and her little boy, Jackson.
Here she is being a badass.

She really was having fun, despite her expression.
She had a blast swinging with nana's help!
 They had such fun together!

Mila loved hanging out at Nana and Grumpy's house-- especially with their cool patio and toys!

20 Month Update!

It has been far too long since I updated on our girl!
As I said in a previous post, these past few months have been crazy. I had to finish my dissertation and do my final defense... which I PASSED!
So I am now a PhD!
This is something I have been working towards for years, and a major benefit is that my free time has opened up exponentially!

This means that I can enjoy Mila so much more!

She is so silly and sassy!
She loves anything to do with glamour: makeup (which she applies herself), nail polish (she has her own toddler-safe polish-- she holds her toes up and says "toes" to let you know she wants them painted), jewelry, faux fur, mom's shoes, etc.
She also loves to be tickled (and to tickle), to blow raspberries, and to give kisses and hugs.
She has an awesome laugh and totally has her mama's sense of humor.
Fart noises get her every single time. Mature, I know.

She communicates very clearly and will say "No" or will laugh if she wants something.

She likes to dance, watch babies and funny kitties, and she takes drawing/coloring very seriously. She gets scared of things now and will cover her eyes until the threat is gone.

She is very gentle and shares very well with other kids.

Favorite Foods:
raisinettes, cookies of any sort, cereal, granola, apples, tangerines, carrots, chicken, peas, pasta, toast, yogurt, any cheese, sandwiches, soup broth, and cereal milk.

Her signing list is a little too long for me to put it all here.

She is my favorite little person in the whole world and I love the person she is becoming!

We are taking her to an Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow so I will be sure to take pictures!
